Kottiyoor, Kannur: Senior IPS officer and Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), M.R. Ajith Kumar, made a discreet visit to the famous Kottiyoor Temple on Monday to offer a ‘Swarnakkudam’ (golden pot), a significant ritual performed for the fulfillment of wishes and as a gesture of gratitude.
The visit, which took place around 11 AM on Monday, was shrouded in secrecy. According to sources, the ADGP, who had pre-booked the special offering, issued strict instructions to ensure his visit remained private, including a ban on all photography.
Adding to the intrigue, it was reported that mobile phone services in the temple premises were disrupted during his visit, leading to widespread speculation that mobile jammers may have been used to ensure complete privacy and prevent any information from being leaked.
The timing of this high-profile religious visit is significant, as Mr. Ajith Kumar is one of the six senior officers currently on the shortlist for promotion to the post of Director General of Police (DGP), the highest rank in the state police force. This context has fueled speculation that the secretive visit and the valuable offering were made to seek divine blessings for a favorable outcome in his potential promotion.
